“Mini” battery mold installed in Germany as a compact entry-level solution

The compact single-pocket battery mold is used for the production of staircase walls and enables efficient manufacturing of standardised elements while keeping investment costs at a manageable level.

The battery mold features a casting area of 8.0 Ă— 3.3 metres and is designed for the production of four elements per concreting cycle. As all elements have identical dimensions, complete series can be produced without any retooling effort.

Eliminating frequent adjustments – such as changing the base formwork or intermediate stop-ends – significantly reduces downtime and increases process reliability within the plant.

Base and side formwork are lined with plywood or Betoplan, allowing the production of different wall thicknesses ranging from 100 to 250 mm.

The system is designed for use with self-compacting concrete (SCC) and deliberately operates without integrated vibration technology – a further factor contributing to reduced complexity and lower investment costs.

The installed solution is designed for future growth from the outset: the existing rail system is already prepared for the integration of two to three additional pockets. This allows production capacity to be expanded step by step as demand increases – without major modifications.

As a lean entry-level solution, it is particularly suitable for manufacturers who:

  • want to enter a new product segment
  • prefer to start with limited investment risk
  • or cannot yet reliably forecast ROI

Conclusion

The “Mini” battery mold combines serial production, flexibility and investment security in a compact solution. It offers a practical entry point into vertical production – with a clear path for future expansion.
